In Artefacts Studio’s translation of Agatha Christie’s The ABC Murders, Hercule Poirot is exactly as you’d expect: arrogant, vain, and brilliant. Which, as an individual that displays exact opposite qualities of each of those, makes it slightly difficult to relate to the protagonist of this story. This Mystery Adventure game, played on the Nintendo Switch but available on other platforms, is an insightful and quirky take on the Hercule Poirot book of the same name.
If you aren’t familiar with the Belgian detective, Hercule Poirot is the Sherlockian star of Christie’s mystery novels (33 of them to be specific, excluding the short stories and the plays). He is brilliant, to be sure, and he knows it. Which reflects in the gameplay in both dialogue and actions – one way to collect Ego Points and earn trophies is to stop at a mirror, in which Poirot fixes his perfectly-coiffed hair.
